Visit Ylläs is now responsible of tourist information

The tourist information of Ylläs and the municipality of Kolari has been officially transferred from the Visitor Center to Visit Ylläs at the turn of the year, as Metsähallitus has terminated the service contract for tourist information.

As of now, Visit Ylläs will provide tourist information services and focus on two primary areas: enhancing the accessibility of tourist information and increasing automation to meet customer needs. Tourist information will be available through a broader range of channels, and digital services such as the website, map, activity shop, and accommodation search will be further developed to better serve our customers. The Visitor Center will continue to provide assistance with inquiries related to the national park.

Tourist information provides services as follows

  • Tourist information is available year-round in Finnish and English on the yllas.fi/en website. Additionally, a chatbot is being developed to answer customers’ inquiries. The chatbot operates 24/7. It is continuously being developed, and an advisor assists part-time during the day.
  • There will be two physical tourist information points in the villages: one in Jounin Kauppa in Äkäslompolo and one at Ski Resort South, Ylläsjärvi. The info points are currently under construction and will be operational by the ski holidays. These points have screens and tablets where customers can browse the digital map, check the Skibus schedule, and view the opening hours of the companies. The information points are marked with a green ’I’ and are available during the businesses’ opening hours.
  • During peak times, face-to-face assistance is also provided at the information points on a pop-up basis when the tourism advisor is present.

We will continuously develop the tourist information services based on experiences, inquiries, and feedback.
