We will drive to a private wilderness cabin in the middle of the forest. It’s situated at a lake and offers possibility to warm up and a great view in direction north. During this tour you will learn – how to assess the weather in Lapland – how to read the aurora forecast – how to use the right settings on your camera for night photography – stories and legends about the Aurora Borealis – how to do light painting as an alternative programme – the best places in the Ylläs region What to bring optional: – camera and tripod must: – warm clothes, hat, gloves, mittens, scarf, good shoes I strongly recommend bringing your own DSLR camera and tripod to this tour. It is not possible to take good night photos with compact cameras. I will provide you with my photos as a souvenir of the tour. Depending on the programme of the tour, 5-8 photos/group will be sent a few days after the tour. On the nights when we can’t find Northern Lights due to heavy cloud cover or snowfall, we will concentrate on night photography in the midst of Arctic nature and can also try our hand at light painting.
