Step into the stillness of the Arctic forest on snowshoes with your local guides, Ciara and Susi. We collect you from your accommodation or the meeting point in Äkäslompolo and take a short drive to the trailhead on the edge of Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park. After fitting your snowshoes and poles, we head into snow-crowned forest and towards the fells at a relaxed pace, with regular stops to take in the views, read animal tracks and take photographs. About halfway, we pause along the trail or at a wilderness hut for hot berry juice and a sweet treat. On clear evening tours, keep an eye on the sky for the Northern Lights. Snowshoeing is one of the easiest ways to explore Lapland’s deep snow, and no experience is needed. Groups are small, with a maximum of 6 guests, and solo travellers, friends and families (ages 14+) are equally welcome. Morning (10:00) and evening (16:00) departures, 3–4 hours including transfers. Snowshoes, poles, transport and refreshments are included; bring warm winter clothing.
