Biking in Ylläs Outdoor Week
Group cycling ride
The local sports club Ylläksen Nousu organizes group cycling rides on Tuesdays. The rides alternate weekly between gravel and mountain biking (MTB). During Outdoor Week, the gravel ride takes place on July 15, and the MTB ride on July 22. All rides start from the giant reindeer statue in front of Jounin Kauppa. Each ride lasts approximately two hours.

Biking, beach sauna, and reindeer stew
Cycling independently to Jokijärvi for dining and sauna.
Ylläs Experiences’ Jokijärvi wilderness cabin and beach sauna are heated for self-service cyclists, or even runners, from 15:00 to 19:00 (six people in the sauna at a time). After the sauna, enjoy hand-made reindeer stew, served from around 16:00 to 20:00. Bring your own drinks. You can drop off your sauna gear at our point from 10:00 to 12:00, and we will transport it to Jokijärvi for you.
We recommend a gravel or mountain bike. There is no single correct route to get there, so you can plan your own. You can ask for tips at the Ylläs Experiences point. The route is not marked – tips are available upon request. The distance is 20–25 km.
The price includes the beach sauna, reindeer stew dinner, and return transportation for you and your bike to Jouni’s store, but not a rental bike. Transport runs approximately every hour.

Guided Levi-Ylläs mountain biking tour
Levi-Ylläs MTB Guided Tour – Experience the already legendary route under the midnight sun.
These stunning fell landscapes have attracted riders since 2015, even from abroad. Now you can challenge yourself on the route in the light of the midnight sun, with a professional guide.
The route length is approximately 55 km.
Transportation to Levi departs from Sport Corner in Äkäslompolo at 17:00, and the estimated return from the route is around 24:00. You can join the tour with your own equipment or rent gear from us if needed.

Guided Särkijärvi–Äkäslompolo Mountain Biking Tour
Särkijärvi – Äkäslompolo MTB Guided Tour – Ylläs’s closely guarded secret, a route known only to insiders, not found on guide maps.
The route traverses majestic fells and ancient forests, where there are no other travelers. The terrain consists of forest trails and a couple of short stretches of gravel roads, fully rideable from start to finish.
Transportation to the start of the route departs from Sport Corner in Äkäslompolo at 09:00, and the estimated return from the route is around 15:00-16:00. You can join the tour with your own equipment or rent gear from us at Sport Corner.

Ylläs-Levi MTB race
Ylläs-Levi MTB tests your fitness on fast-paced routes and technical trails in an authentic fell environment. The distances in the stunning Lapland scenery are 75 km, 55 km, and 30 km routes.
The event has a changing direction every other year. In 2025, the ride heads towards Ylläs. The starting point for the 75 km distance is in Levi, the 55 km distance starts from a location to be announced later, and the 30 km distance starts in Pyhäjärvi.
Additionally, you can participate in the Fun Rally, where you can explore and enjoy the atmosphere of a cheerful outdoor event without aiming for a specific result.
